We had a full day ahead of us! Starting with the Train Museum in Sacramento.

Jeromy was very interested in reading the fact boxes. He says to me, “Mom, I’m getting to be like Jarrod. I actually like learning about this stuff!” Jarrod is my cousin, our children’s second cousin and Jeromy thinks the world of him. Jarrod is almost 15 and one of the best teenagers I know. I’m stoked Jeromy has chosen someone worth looking up to.
Don’t expect to see any actual train photos because I’m lame and didn’t take any!

Moments before I took this photo, Aiden tried to walk through the window! lol He was a bear all day. Didn’t want to be held, didn’t want a snack, didn’t want to be in the stroller. Grr. Most of his photos are of him being hugely irritated.

You can see my Aunt Meg with Miranda in the background of the above photo. She was showing Miss M were her Great-Great Grandfather worked. Just across from the train museum in the rail yard. This was new to me too! I enjoy learning about my grandparents and the lives they led. They were not easy, I can tell you that. Meg lives in Sac and came out to meet us. We appreciated having her extra arms and the nice visit! Miranda didn’t leave her side for most of it. Just like me when I was her age!
Aiden found a cool little space to play in while we took a break. More like let him take a break.

Ooooo! A string! lol
On the second floor they have the toy train displays. TONS of toy trains. Even a play area of Thomas the Train. Only today, on free museum day, there were no toys.
Evidently they get swiped pretty fast so they don’t put any out. They did have this cool window:

Miranda wasn’t sure how fun this was. Lots of kiddos in a small space. Sam was somewhere in there too.
We finished our short two hour trip with a picnic lunch and then it was on to Sam’s friend’s birthday party. Where he was the only boy chosen to attend! Quite an honor when your seven.

Build-a-Bear is insane. Kids everywhere! With way too much yellow. I like the color yellow and it was still too much. Sam chose to stuff a cat. He’s a cat person.

Meet Zakary the Cat! He originally chose this A’s hat, because he loves baseball, but then changed his mind. Zak the Cat now has a cool pair of sunglasses and an American flag. Zak hasn’t left his side since the party.
After that loud and crazy fun, we rushed home, slammed down some dinner and rushed back out for the California Cougars game. My Mom came and watched the Littles for us. It was very, very, very nice to have some time with just the boys. It doesn’t happen very often and we miss it. We need to make it a point to do it more often. A couple things about this particular game:
- Sam actually wanted to watch it! Usually he’s bored out of his mind and asking for food every 15 minutes.
- The team we played had their coach thrown out of the game for rushing the field! It was pretty fierce there for about five minutes. Gotta love testosterone.
- We won 10-7!
- Nachos and soda? Yes please.
We were all pretty beat by the end of the day but so worth the family memories!
